We all know 2020 has been full of surprises, one being a global pandemic hitting the world and businesses of all sizes having to close their doors… My studio was closed, weddings were cancelled, I had a baby (whaaaat!?!), but now… I’m BACK!! Nothing like the world shutting down to make you realize how lucky you are to do what you love.
My first shoot back was a very, very, VERY pleasant one! To be honest, I was a little nervous driving to the shoot because it had been so long since I had picked up my camera. I was literally scared I wasn’t going to remember how to use it (lol), but it was like riding a bike. Luckily, one of my funniest college friends and her fiancee were my first victims. Kenzie and Ross made my job so freaking easy, it literally felt like we just hung out and caught up for two hours while I snapped some pretty pics. They were recently engaged (took ya long enough, ROSS) and wanted a ‘city meets nature’ type of shoot, so we got to explore Toronto together!
Kenzie and I met at musical theatre school where people would CONSTANTLY get us confused for one another, so we called ourselves The Twins. She’s seriously one of the funniest people I know and I can always count on her to make me cackle. Another cool fact? Ross, Kenzie and I were actually in a band together!… Let’s just say I didn’t last very long (I quit because, well…I sucked).
It was painful not to give them each a hug as soon as I saw them, but we made darn sure to follow the rules. We explored Liberty Village (which was practically abandoned), and then walked down to Ontario Place by the water. The empty streets are a photographers dream, we got so many beautiful shots that would have otherwise been obstructed by people and cars! The sunset was perfect and we had such a blast. Here are some of my faves from our dreamy evening together.
